2006/2007 VBMP orthophotography is now viewable on Google Maps and Google Earth! Rural areas of Virginia in particular benefit from the improved quality and currency of available imagery on Google. Note the attribution at the bottom for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

All Wireless E-911 Surcharge payments must be remitted to the Wireless E-911 Services Board at 11751 Meadowville Lane, Chester, Virginia 23836. Checks should be made payable to the Treasurer of Virginia, but must be sent to the attention of the Board to ensure they are processed properly. Recently, several have been remitted to the incorrect location.

2008 NAIP orthoimagery Now Available added Mon, 17 Nov 2008 20:36:17 GMT
The 2008 National Aerial Imagery Program orthoimagery of the US Department of Agriculture – Farm Services Agency (commonly called USDA-NAIP imagery) is now available for download. This represents the first of two deliverables of the USDA-NAIP imagery and is in the form of “compressed county mosaics” (CCMs). Here are some details on the CCMs: • one meter resolution summertime 2008 “leaf on” imagery • minimal quality control performed to expedite delivery time • 100% coverage of Virginia • 4 band color (3 true color, 1 near infrared) • JPEG2000 format • VBMP orthoimagery control points used where possible to enhance accuracy

New Virginia Base Mapping Program Orthophotography RFP Released added Tue, 26 Aug 2008 15:17:24 GMT
VGIN has released a Request For Proposal to update the Virginia Base Mapping Program (VBMP) statewide orthophotography, set to begin in the spring of 2009. This represents the third time since 2002 that statewide imagery will be collected as a part of the VBMP. All potential vendors are encouraged to visit the eVA website for more information.
